‘Team MML’ took to the road again on February 11th with a trip to the Mahatma Magic Circle in Liverpool. Acting as compere, your scribe first introduced Brian Berry with the slick presentation of effects which have been honed over thousands of performances, including the legendary popper beads, road sign, block through head and chop cup. You are always in safe hands with Brian, to set the ball rolling.
Allan Clarke came next with, among other things, a new mind-boggling item picked up from the recent Session convention. Roger Woods proposed a toast . . . or at least his card prediction eventually turned up on a piece of toast following a lot of amusing by-play. Paul Guy always puts a lot of thought and effort into customising his routines to suit the occasion, and this was evident again in an effect involving Mahatma President Carol Tynan, which was greatly appreciated.
Donald Monk (the Average) rounded off the evening (well let’s be honest - nobody can follow him!) with his donkey derby and the eventual reclamation of a note . . . worth a tenner of anybody’s money.
The audience was responsive, we have since received many heart-warming comments, and we now look forward to the reciprocal visit of Mahatma to the MML in June.
