Biography: Dr Roger Woods is a lawyer, amateur magician, author, lecturer and publisher.
He is a retired Crown Prosecutor with the Crown Prosecution Service. He was admitted a Solicitor in 1977 (and again in 2009 after a short period as a Barrister).
He is an active Chairman of the Modern Mystic League (Blackburn & District Society of Magicians).
He enjoys performing close-up magic.
He has also conducted extensive research on magical history and co-authored with Brian Lead MIMC "Houdini The MythMaker", "Harry Houdini: Legend & Legacy" and "Showmen or Charlatans? The Stories of 'Dr' Walford Bodie and 'Sir' Alexander Cannon" and co-edited "Demagic: The Magic of Jesse Demaline".
He has lectured at The Magic Circle Collectors Day and elsewhere on Houdini and 'Dr' Walford Bodie.
He lectured at the British Ring Convention with his good friend Maurice (Mo) Howarth about Mo's mother, lady ventriloquist "Josephine Langley". Another book "Josephine Langley: Lady Ventriloquist" was published in June 2008 and all these publications are available from Roger. An updated lecture was given, with Mo, at the Northern Magic Circle Convention in Fleetwood in March, 2010.
He enjoys visiting magic Conventions and always has a pack of cards handy. He likes helping fellow members of the Modern Mystic League to increase their knowledge of magic.
